Curse Road. Every player for themselves
Everyone has their own figure, their own hero and their own handful of lanterns. The road leads to the castle of the Grimoire — a living, wicked and very self-satisfied spellbook. Mini-games, traps, curses and the other players blow lanterns out, and whoever runs out becomes a ghost. The last player with a lantern still burning wins.
The game is currently in Latvian; an English version is in progress.

How a round goes
Nobody waits for their turn: everyone rolls, moves and plays at the same time.

Everyone rolls at once
Each player taps their own die (it shows 0 to 3), and all the figures hop together. This is when you play cards and your hero’s power. Every third round the Grimoire takes a turn of his own, and he always goes after the leader.

The space decides what happens
A campfire lights a lantern, a chest gives a lantern or a card (or bites), a trap blows one out. There are also curses, tailwinds, bogs, magic portals and challenge spaces where you call out the leader.

A mini-game for everyone
The player furthest behind picks one of two mini-games. Everyone plays it at once on their own phone, with the standings shown live.

The worst loses a lantern
The worst living player loses a lantern (with six alive, the worst two), and the best one gains a lantern. Anyone left without lanterns becomes a ghost.

Ghosts keep playing
Ghosts set traps, curse the living and play every mini-game. A ghost who beats every living player comes back once with one lantern.
Eleven mini-games
Each lasts 8–20 seconds, and everyone plays at once — ghosts included. Then the game ranks everyone from best to worst.
Tap storm8 seconds of hammering a button as fast as you can. Most taps takes first place.
Lightning reflexWait for the signal, then tap. Tap too early and you come last.
Sharp eyeSixteen icons, and one of them is different. You get one try.
One mindA prompt with four answers. Pick what most of the living players will pick: the bigger your group, the better.
Color spellMemorize a sequence of colors and repeat it. The closer to the castle, the longer it gets.
Six more: “Tower stack” (a block slides above your tower — tap at the right moment; whatever overhangs is cut off, and the tallest tower wins), “Stop the sign” (stop a swinging marker in the green zone three times), “Rune hunt” (tap the glowing runes, not the skulls), “Bat count” (how many bats flashed by?), “Ghost trail” (trace a winding path with your finger without slipping off) and “Color muddle” (tap the color of the ink, not the word written). All of them work on a computer with a mouse or keyboard too.
Six heroes
At the start everyone picks a hero. The power can be used once, and it recharges when your figure passes or stops at a campfire.
| Hero | Power |
|---|---|
| Knight | Blocks the next lantern you would lose (works by itself) |
| Witch | Curses a chosen player for two mini-games |
| Thief | Takes a random card from another player’s hand |
| Bard | Lullaby: the chosen player moves only one space on their next move |
| Healer | Lights one lantern for herself |
| Scout | Picks his own roll: 1, 2, 3 or 4 |
What makes it fun
Nobody sits out
Run out of lanterns and you become a ghost: you set traps, curse the living and play every mini-game. With a good result a ghost can even come back.
Leading is hard work
The Grimoire always goes after whoever has the most lanterns, while the player in last place picks the mini-game. So the lead keeps changing until the very end.
Curses complicate everything
An upside-down screen, a mirrored one, three seconds of darkness or butter fingers that count half — and that is exactly when you have to hit the runes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play it in English?
Not yet. The game is currently in Latvian; an English version is in progress. Most mini-games need very little reading, but the instructions and prompts are Latvian.
How do you win?
The last player with a lantern still burning wins. If someone reaches the Grimoire’s castle first, the castle showdown begins: everyone still alive plays three final mini-games, and whoever has the most lanterns after them wins.
Can I be knocked out right at the start?
No. In the first land, the Mushroom Forest, your last lantern never goes out. And even later, a knocked-out player does not sit out: they become a ghost and keep playing.
What do ghosts do?
Each round a ghost can set a trap in a living player’s path or put a curse on someone. Ghosts play every mini-game with everyone else, and a ghost who beats all the living comes back once with one lantern. In the castle, ghosts vote on which finalist the Grimoire curses.
How many lanterns does everyone get?
The host picks: many (6), normal (5) or few (4). The road can be long (36 spaces) or short (24). You win lanterns back in mini-games, at campfires, in chests and with the “Long fingers” card.
Does any phone work?
Yes. Every mini-game is played by tapping; no motion sensor is needed. On a computer you can play with a mouse and keyboard.
What are the four lands?
The Mushroom Forest, the Swamp of Sorrows, the Grumpy Peaks and the Grimoire’s Castle. Each land ends at a gate where everyone has to stop, so the pack bunches up again. Every land has a campfire, a chest, a trap and a challenge space; the other spaces are random.
What if someone disconnects?
The game does not wait for them: the roll ends as soon as every connected player has rolled, or after 15 seconds, so one dropped phone does not stall the game.
