Game Night Play

How it works

The short answer: one person creates a room, everyone else types a four-letter code into their own phone, and the game begins. The longer answers about accounts, the camera and lost connections are below.

The game is currently in Latvian; an English version is in progress.

Play

Free to play right now. Sign-up needs an invite code from the host of your room.

Three steps

  1. Create a room

The host opens the game, signs in, picks a game and creates a room. A four-letter code appears on screen.

  2. Join

Everyone else opens the game on their own phone and enters the code, or opens the link the host sends. In the room you can take a selfie for your avatar.

  3. Start

Once there are at least three players (four for the mole hunt), the host presses start.

Joining and rooms

Can I play in English?

Not yet. The game is currently in Latvian; an English version is in progress. This website and its question lists are available in English.

How do I join a room?

Open the game on your phone and enter the four-letter code the host of the room sees. The host can also send a link that fills in the code for you.

How many people can play?

A room holds three to six players. The mole hunt needs at least four.

Can I join after the game has started?

No. Once the game starts, new players cannot enter the room. Those already in the game can come back at any time.

Do we need a TV or a computer?

No. There is no shared screen: everyone plays on their own phone.

Do I have to install an app?

No. The game runs in your phone’s browser.

Can we play if we are not in the same room?

The games are designed for people sitting together: a lot happens in conversation, and some games have rules you keep yourselves. Remote play has not been tested.

Accounts and price

Do I need an account?

Yes, every player does. An account needs an e-mail address, a name and a password.

Where do I get an invite code?

For now you can only sign up with an invite code. You get it from the host of the room — the person who invited you to play.

What does it cost?

Playing is free right now. There are no payments in the game.

What if I forget my password?

The game does not send e-mails, so you cannot reset the password yourself. Contact the person who gave you the invite code: an administrator can set a new password.

Camera and selfies

Why does the game ask for camera access?

For two things: the selfie you can take in the room, and the photo challenge round in Which of Us. The browser asks for permission only when the camera is actually needed.

Is a selfie required?

No. Without one your avatar shows the first letter of your name, and in the drawing round the others draw on a white background.

Who can see my photos?

Only the people in the same room. Selfies and round photos stay in the server’s memory only while the room exists and are not saved to the database.

What if the in-page camera does not work?

The game offers a fallback — choosing or taking a picture through the phone’s regular camera dialog. Also check that the browser is allowed to use the camera.

When something goes wrong

What happens if I lose my connection?

A short drop of up to 15 seconds goes unnoticed. If it lasts longer you stay in the game as “offline”: the others do not wait for you, and the phase ends without you. When you reopen the page, the game finds you by your account and puts you back in the same place.

What if the host disconnects?

The host role passes to the next connected player and the game goes on.

Will my screen turn off during the game?

The game asks the phone to keep the screen on while you are in a room. If your phone does not support that, touch the screen now and then.

How long does a room last?

A room is deleted once everyone has been offline for ten minutes, or when nothing has happened in it for two hours.

How do I report a bug?

There is a “?” button in the top right corner of the game. From there you can reload the game without losing your place, or describe the problem and send it.

Give it a try

Creating a room takes less time than reading this page. The game itself is in Latvian for now.
